INSTAKEY is a unique system that lets you re-key your own locks by simply inserting and turning a key. That's it. There is nothing to disassemble, no one to call, and no tools are needed.
1. Step change key displaces wafer.
TO REKEY: A notched step change key is inserted into the cylinder and turned 180°. Removing the key brings with it the disengaged wafer, rendering all previous keys in that series inoperable. And all this is done while the lock remains in place in the door.
THE SECRET: A patented method of removing glued wafer stacks from the multiple chambers of a lock cylinder - one wafer at a time.
THE REKEYING PROCESS: Each computer-generated keying series allows up to 12 rekeys to be loaded into the cylinder distributed among grand, master, and pass key levels.
MULTIPLE LEVEL CHANGES: The removal of wafers from different stacks in multiple chambers allows the change of any level - grand, master, pass, even interchangable core control keys - without affecting the operation or keying structure of any other level.
REPINNING: Once all the wafers have been removed, the cylinder can be reloaded, with a new and totally different series of changes. No new hardware - no lapse in security.

Security
InstaKey offers 3 separate levels of protection:
Speed. When there is a security breached , it needs to be closed fast. With InstaKey, it only takes about three seconds to rekey a cylinder.
Restricted key sections / individually numbered. Keys cannot be duplicated unless requested "in writing" by authorized personnel and then only from authorized/licensed InstaKey dealers. Serial numbers allow for tracking of a keyblank from stamping to discard.
Maintaining Control. Control of the new key system is now made possible throughg InstaKey's unparalleled software control programs; design - pinning/bitting - record keeping. Users can now track every aspect of system control, the whereabouts of every issued key, and the history of the system itself. control can be handled by the end user or by the InstaKey national support network.
